Pros

Company vehicle (filthy inside) . Uniform and tools provided. Pension (minimum 4% per month with company matching it upto 8%) . No sick pay, holiday pay included.

Cons

Management have ZERO trust in staff. Your vehicle is tracked, fuel card is tracked. You have a tracker round your neck as an ID Badge which they tell you is for your safety, but it's actually to monitor if you're logging in at the location of your jobs on time. They watch your break times to the second. it's ridiculous! You're given a 7 job per day minimum target, which includes on average 4 lengthy forms to be filled out. If you attend a job and the tennant isn't in, this doesn't count towards your 7 a day, making it harder to achieve any bonus. Gossip spreads faster than covid here, If you don't fit in, consider yourself to be targetted and slowly pushed out. There are workers privately calling the office, making sure they get all the easy jobs, leaving other staff with the harder jobs meaning it's easier for them to obtain their targets and bonus. The word "Bonus" Is used, with way to many obstacles in the way of actually achieving it. They have an 8 hour rest period between call outs and the next working day, which by law should be 11 hours. Ive done a 17 hour shift getting home after 1am then getting called at 8:03am asking where i was for my next shift!. You're expected to work a regular 8-5 then do call out from 5pm until the callouts are done, so essentially working 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. I also got called out at 1am for a 130 mile drive to replace a socket, these jobs are not emergency and should be put on normal day work. You get given a van which is usually filthy, but expected to clean it pristine when you leave or they threaten to take money out your final pay (written in the contract). If you get a parking fine, you will not be told about it for months, by that time the fine has gone up and they try take it out your wage. It's practically modern day slavery built for the working man/woman who are too scared to say no and stand up for themselves. North Korea has less rules.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us and for recognising the work we’ve been doing to collaborate with our colleagues to continue building inclusive working environment where everyone feels supported to thrive in their career. Along with providing specialist training for our managers so they are well equipped to support their teams, we seek regular feedback through our employee body, our Colleague Champions, who are always on hand to listen to feedback from colleagues and share with senior leaders. We also encourage colleagues to take part in our annual b-heard survey, and we’re delighted to say we were named by Best Companies as one of the top 50 large companies in the UK to work for in 2023 based on their feedback in our most recent survey. Following the feedback, we’ve launched our Your Voice in Action campaign, continuing to take action on the important issues that matter to our colleagues as highlighted in the survey. We’re always open to new ideas on how we can develop our offering and working environment, and we’d encourage you to share any ideas with us by emailing AskHR@MidlandHeart.org.uk.
