Pros
Millipore has some very smart, outgoing, and business-savvy people. Most people are great to work with, and very open/willing to help. There is a good sense of teamwork among peers. Good flexibility with hours when needed, but everyone makes up for that on evenings/weekends. A couple of the best managers have told people to "put down the Blackberries" for the weekend, as work/life balance is heavily weighted toward work.
Cons
As with all companies, there are a few very abrasive individuals. Many people are aware of these but there is little done about them if they meet the numbers. The organizational structure is very flat, with little room for promotion or career advancement (e.g. people management). HR has stated that transitions do not happen for years, unlike peer companies. There is also limited opportunity to move between internally between groups or divisions, though there have been some exceptions. Innovation is highly spoken of, but ideas are only considered if they are from certain levels of the company. There is little recognition for a job well done unless you are one of the groomed "high potential" people. The rest of us just carry water.
