Pros

Work environment is fun and friendly

Cons

Job was not for a professional. With over 12 years of experience the owners would try to tell me “How to design” instead of helping helping with customers. They will expect you to create amazing work, answer the phone, answer emails, and assist walk in customers all while designing in a 8hr shift for $17/hr There is no OT pay and you are not allowed to take work home even if it’s free. The title should be labeled admin assistant with some graphic design skills.

Pros

-Work is satisfying and enjoyable, its cool learning about machines and processes. You will certainly grow as a person here. -Solid full time job, Monday through Friday. -Owner is has a calm demeanor and is good at handling high stress situtations without getting visibly stressed. -Co-workers are likeable overall, despite some rough edges. -Customers are awesome, you meet interesting people. -If you have great working memory, or on adderall you will thrive here.

Cons

-This is my personal experience as a neurodivergent person, your experience my vary. -Extreme Micromanagement, How you answer phones, what words you use, how you write numbers or even how you talked to the owner is criticized. Owner is obessively observant of everything you do and takes every word, expression, and action very literally, if you glance out the window while thinking he will ask why you are doing that and what you are thinking about. -No standardized training process. The process of using these machines could be written out in a document but instead you have the owner in a dead quiet room hovering over you getting calmly frustrated at the fact he has to train you himself. He has this weird energy about him that put me on edge personally. -Not enough time to lean the quirks and features of every machine, owner seems to expect you to know evrything in two weeks which is unrealistic as you sometimes wont use a machine for a few weeks and forget the process. -You are basically expected to run the entire shop for less than 25 an hour. Profit margins are likely thin. -Place is disorderly and relies too much on tribal knowledge and working memory, while being interrupted and rushed all the time, leading to expensive mistakes. -You are rushed to do things quickly then get attitude when something inevitably goes wrong. -Coworkers often have bad attitudes but its excused because "oh that's just how he/she is" No. There is no excuse to be toxic. Its called emotional maturity. -Very tense energy. If you come in with a good attitude you still get snapped at. -If the owner doesn't respond to a customer on time, when the customer calls they take our their frustrations on you. -Frequent scam calls. -No paid lunch breaks, you have to come in at 8 instead of 9 like a normal job. -You get held to a standard the owner doesn't hold himself to. -Paper is stored in seemingly random places at times. Few things are labeled. -Machines break down and jam regularly.(Typical for Print Production) -Owner gets on you if paper and things are'nt put away immediately despite boxes, papers and other items just sitting in arbitrary places. His desk is an absolute mess with work orders just on the floor but god forbid you leave a stack of paper on the table for 5 minutes while you do something else. -Constant interruptions and being side tracked, leading to losing track of what your were doing leading to mistakes and another passive-aggressive lecture.
