Pros

-Guaranteed Hours -Rate of pay -Trauma bonds You’ll make allies within the Crew Members as you each individually get treated like dirt by guests, Senior Management and a specific Crew Leader. Heed this warning - the hourly rate is not worth trading your mental wellbeing and self respect.

Cons

-Terrible management -Awful workplace culture -Lack of humanity There is zero professionalism from Senior Management - easy to work out who is part of an unspoken clique, doing whatever in their power to make you feel as small as possible if they decide they don’t like you. I’ve seen multiple staff walk away due to the actions of a certain Crew Leader (you’ll figure it out pretty quickly if you have the misfortune of accepting a job role). I was offered the job in the midst of a slapdash interview (HUGE red flag) as they appeared to be desperate for staff - probably because the previous team walked out after said Leader was awarded the position. If you expect efficient training, don’t! If you expect poor training, don’t! If you expect any training at all, don’t! You will be flung straight into the deep end and expected to operate an outdated Hotel system without any support - and they will not be happy when you don’t know what you’re doing. Pray you’re not on shift when the fire alarm goes off - we also didn’t get training in that regard either. Doesn’t appear to be any understanding across the whole team as to what to do in the midst of an emergency situation - just a lot of flapping, panicking and confusion. As you can imagine, guests do NOT respond well to staff guessing what to do in this situation. You’re expected to jump between multiple job roles, completely taking advantage of their staff and disguising it as ‘multitasking.’ On gig nights the bar will be rammed with people, with 3 unprepared Crew Members fighting to check people into rooms, serve at the bar, prepare and make pizzas, clear tables in the foyer along with taking verbal abuse from guests who had to wait 20 minutes just to get a key to a room they’ve paid £200 for. Completely justified on their behalf and completely draining on our behalf. Never in my years of working hospitality have I met Senior Management that don’t work evenings or weekends. Seems to be they’re under the impression it’s a 9-5 desk job. There’s no passion, no support and absolutely no leadership.
