Pros

Steady paycheck. When you caught boss in a good mood he would treat you to lunch

Cons

Mel is extremely angry. When something small angers him he goes on tirades where he screams, yells, and bullies his employees. He disrespects his wife and child in front of employees and micro manages.

Pros

Perhaps the only pro was the occasional time I could work from home because I wasn't getting incredibly micro-managed and bullied.

Cons

Mel was a control freak. He would yell and scream in one moment, then tell you how happy he was that you worked for him the next. He was always very suspicious of what I was doing when I was working no less than 10 ft away from him 4 days out of 5. And the title Recruiting Assistant was as misleading as could possibly be. I was a glorified telemarketer and that is seriously all I did, day in and day out, working off of old, archaic Excel lists that needed updating. It was extremely frustrating and the other part of the job was that if you finally did bring a candidate in that finally would leave their firm for another, you were supposed to get paid a commission, though the commission could never be spelled out because it would "depend" on the deal the candidate accepted. Needless to say, I waited for months for any of my prospective candidates to move, but no one ever did, so I left because Mel was getting extremely controlling and nasty to work around and the job never changed.
