Pros

Good earning potential. Neiman's is one of the best as far as pay if you're an hourly employee and they offer some of the highest commission around. Looks good on your resume, if you're able to "make it" at Neiman's other retailers will want you. The employees that stay here are usually high earners and really care about their jobs and their customers. They're generally very good at what they do and fun to work with.

Cons

As in all retail, you are only as good as the sales you are producing, If you're not making your goals, even if (you think) there is a valid reason, they don't want excuses. Neiman Marcus: where the weak are killed and eaten" hahahahaha, seriously, though. The associates work only on commission, no hourly pay so it's a very competitive atmoshpere. That's not necessarily a bad thing but people will do really underhanded things for a sale. Lots of bickering and fighting between associates and MUA's over sales. There is event after event after event with large goals for every event and it gets exhausting. Neiman's does very little, if any advertising so that means you are pre-selling for events to your customers in store and calling them on the phone. There are few people that like to be solicited on the phone!

Pros

* If you have an amazing team and management the day goes by fast. * Commission. * Easy to rely on foot traffic to meet goals. * If you ask for growth, they set thing ups that align with what you want, you just need to ask.

Cons

* If its slow, its SLOW. * There can be drama, it just depends on the department you're in.

Pros

Employee discount and free samples

Cons

A toxic environment where sales are almost zero because vendors are pulling their product off the shelf because their bills aren’t getting paid. They’re in the middle of coming out of a bankruptcy , if a client does come in, we usually don’t have the product to sell them ,only lines who are partially thriving is fragrance ! The hours are terrible. You get off work at nine and you’re expected to be back at 9:30 AM.
