Pros
NetApp likes to hire smart people who are passionate about what they do. There are high expectations for performance and even higher expectations about collaboration. It takes a while to get decisions made (both big and small), but once they are made they are executed with extreme efficiency. The company is nimble and can still operate like a small company in a lot of ways. The emphasis on company culture is truly remarkable and lived by virtually all of the top level executives. There is a lot less corporate ego here than in other places. The top execs stand in line in the cafeteria like everyone else.
Cons
Having a lot of passionate people makes conflict unavoidable and decision making slow. For the most part however, people are very respectful of conflicting opinions, come up with workable strategies and move forward together. Short term decisions and investments and little process becomes quite problematic as the company grows.
