-Toxic work environment for staff, where everyone is expected to accept abuse from faculty and work extra hours during the week as well as weekends. -Also, the department struggles with racism. There have been workshops to try and help but I’ve talked to co-workers that are POC about their experiences and they are clearly being treated very differently than most other employees. -Pay for RA’s is lower than the average across the University, let alone the industry.
