Lots of leadership leaving, lots of missed quotas - Account Executive Notion Labs Employee Review

Pros

Every client genuinely loves the product. Saying you work at Notion feels like telling people you work at the next Apple. The benefits and salary are competitive and rewarding.

Cons

Sales leadership here often feels strikingly immature. In the EMEA office especially, hiring practices can look more like a classmates-and-friends club than a merit-based process. In fact, one AE was promoted to Enterprise despite not hitting quota for an entire year. It seems being close with the managers — wedding invites, golf outings, and paddle clubs — can matter more than performance when it comes to promotions. The results speak for themselves: fewer than 10% of AEs are hitting, or even coming close to hitting, quota globally. Over the spring & summer, many leaders with 4–5 years at the company have headed for the exits — and departures like that usually don’t happen without a reason.

Pros

There’s an actual (free) coffee shop in the office, the workspace is beautiful, and the pay is highly competitive. For the most part, you’re working with really smart colleagues, which is great. Plus, the tool itself is widely used and loved, and it actually makes your day-to-day job a lot easier when it's running smoothly.

Cons

The high turnover here is pretty exhausting, and it feels like people are constantly leaving. Communication from management is also really stressful—there’s almost no heads-up or clear feedback if someone needs to improve, so people and even managers just get blindsided by sudden PIPs or getting let go. Roadmaps change constantly, too. While the All Hands meetings are super inspiring, they usually just spiral into management shifting direction completely and forcing you into another crazy, unrealistic deadline. On top of all that, the tool itself runs pretty slow on the production side, which just adds to the daily frustration.
