Pros

Immediate team i.e people on your level in the same role are supportive

Cons

Do yourself a favour and never apply for a job here. Staff turnover is so high the managers have been working for 6 months before being promoted and are given no training. New employees are hired weekly to make up for the constant flow of staff leaving. Unrealistic KPIs of 6 hours per day. You will need to start work at 7am and work on weekends just to meet it. If you are behind, you will be publicly shamed. If you reach out for help and say you are struggling, they will ask you to hand in your resignation. To put it nicely, there is micromanagement verging on workplace bullying. If you fall 6 hours behind your target in the month, you will be called, emailed and brought in for meetings. There is no consideration for employees mental health from upper management. Says the role is “provisional psychologist/behaviour support” but you will wait months to be given a psych client. Hard to meet requirements for 4+2 internship. This is not a psych job, it is behaviour support. Was told in the interview it would be 50% psych. Instead it was 1 psych client to 30 behaviour clients. Don’t be mistaken by the 5 star reviews on here. Highly likely they are all from upper management to make up for the scathing ones.

We are disappointed to hear that this was your experience at ORS. We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice, and for this reason, have an array of varying feedback channels and anonymous staff satisfaction surveys to ensure that we are regularly aware of any issues causing staff to feel dissatisfied or unhappy. In our most recent survey, we received a 96% overall staff satisfaction rate, and we certainly haven’t received this type of feedback in any of our internal feedback channels (including those sent through anonymously). We are now a very proud employer of over 500 staff, many of whom have worked at ORS for a number of years and up to 20+ years. We will agree that we do ask our staff to post their experience working at ORS on sites such as these if they would like to, as this is what they are there for – to provide an opinion of ORS as an employer. Unfortunately from time to time, we have employed people at ORS who have not been the right cultural fit, however this is quite normal in any workplace. We closely monitor our employee retention rates to ensure that the majority of people succeed with ORS by ensuring that they have access to the best possible training, development and leadership in order to reach their fullest potential. We are proud to say that these are sitting at a healthy rate and continually improving month to month. Additionally, our daily client hours KPI has been reduced over time to allow our employees time to access learning and development, supervision, and other training. It is a shame that we were not able to receive your concerns whilst an employee at ORS, so that we could clear up any misunderstanding. However we wish you the best in your future endeavours

Thank you for your feedback. We are disappointed to hear that your experience with ORS was not a positive one. Our Executive team have worked extremely hard to improve to working the conditions for all our 600+ employees around the country. This includes reducing our workload requirements for all practitioners by 17% to 5 billable hours per day which has been extremely well received by our staff members. We have also invested heavily in our support services divisions and we employ more than 150 staff members in back office roles to deliver industry leading support across AHPRA Supervision, Learning & Development, Report Reviewing, Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Administration, Marketing and Support & Performance Coaching. We acknowledge that working as a frontline practitioner in the disability sector can be challenging and the issues that our staff encounter are very common throughout the industry. These challenges also bring an incredible responsibility and amazing sense of pride that our practitioners feel when they deliver improvement in the lives of our clients. ORS will always strive to deliver the highest level of service possible to our clients whilst ensuring that our growing workforce always feel supported and appreciated. We also provide multiple avenues for our employees to provide feedback (anonymous and known) which helps us continue to make improvements.
