Open Door Health Center

Is this your company?

I could not have imagined that a work place could be so toxic and uncaring. - Anonymous employee Open Door Health Center Employee Review

Pros

Some of the team members and providers are really amazing people.

Cons

I couldn't possibly explain with words the horrible working conditions within Open Door. It felt like being at a very chaotic high school. The "leaders" need training on what it means to be a leader and a mentor. They try to place blame of the poor culture on the old CEO but the fact is that everyone that has been there long enough will tell you the problem existed before her and will continue due to the new interim and other leaders that have been there for years. They are very self-serving, fake, and hypocritical to the mission. I would go as far as to say that it was a very traumatizing experience to work there.

Pros

I get to work with patient all day over the phone and in person. I am able to be of service to those who walk in or need help in finding an oral surgeon to decrease their pain they may be experiencing with their teeth and gums. I have learned so much from this organization. I have high hopes for the new CEO who will be taking over.

Cons

The down side is not being full staffed due to high turnover rates. It can be stressful at times and we may have to turn patients away due to being short staffed.

Pros

Brand new building, inside and out. Beautiful and comfortable. Tremendous growth lately and a feeling like you're part of something big. Executive Leadership has open door policy and is known by staff on first name basis. Departmental managers care about their staff. Mission of the organization is to provide quality and affordable medical, dental and behavioral health care to anyone in the community who needs it, regardless of ability to pay. Staff and their families get hugely discounted services if they choose to use in-house. Private insurance for employee only is decent rate. Retirement accounts are available. There is a nice staff lounge, quiet rooms (for nursing mothers or others needing a break), and the new fitness center is a nice addition for the employees. Most people who work here like to help others, are collaborative and friendly.

Cons

They don't pay as well as private practice. Private insurance cost for a family of 4 would be more money than many staff make. Sometimes the ability to speak Spanish is prized over being a smart or innovative employee, especially for entry level positions.
