This is valuable feedback and I think you are right. We are looking to create a work environment where people inspire others to excel. To achieve this, we need to ensure that every tier of management has leadership qualities.
Over the past 12 months we have adjusted our hiring plans away from entry level, to hiring more senior employees. Some of these employees have exceptional experience to help junior managers develop. But employee development is a slow process, and sometimes you can’t beat the experience that comes with years of being a manager.
Our shared services model creates areas of expertise in each function. Whilst we encourage teamwork, we also want collaboration across teams. Our old Naperville location was split between two main work areas and this made teamwork challenging. To address this, we have moved into new much larger offices in our Naperville
location. We designed seating plans to ensure that relevant teams work together. We designed the footprint to ensure that there are numerous breakout rooms and a large kitchen/social area. We encourage ping-pong and foosball etc., and budget for out of hours’ social events.
Profit is important for all companies, and is one of the main performance indicators for any CEO. But it depends what you want the profit for. To strip out of the company and pay dividends, or to reinvest into growth. We do the latter and you will have seen this with, new employees, new offices, new training programmes, compensation, social functions, and even the new ping pong table.
We continually strive to improve and your feedback is essential for this to happen. I would value the opportunity to discuss these, and any future concerns directly with you if you would like. You know how to reach me!
Thanks Robin.
