Pros

The office space is modern and pretty. If you’re reading this in the year it was posted, you would likely be one of three people in the entire space. However, one of the other two is the CEO.

Cons

- Many days are packed with meetings and one is expected to work on other tasks while maintaining active participation in these. They often run through the lunch hour. - Regardless of whatever lofty title she chooses to slap on the job opening, you will be in sales. Do not take this statement lightly. You will be expected to peddle the magazine, participation in the media events and enrollment in the “university” in most of the communications you send out. You are expected to spam the recipient with the same script to the same potential client or partner every day if they’ve not responded, which, putting myself in their shoes, would be extremely off-putting and in poor taste. - The company itself is heavily reliant upon its partners who take part in the media events as sponsors. Perhaps I’m missing something, but I cannot begin to understand how any revenue is made between the heavy discounts some sponsors receive and the cost of renting the venue, promo costs, catering, assembly of swag bags and cost of travel. I worried that the company would go under without warning often. - The CEO will take every opportunity to undermine your work. She *must* have a hand in every communication and will dislike whatever you write, say on a call, etc. She will either 1. meet with you after every email you copy her on to pick apart every word you typed or 2. Call you from her office (you can hear her dialing through the wall) to do the exact same thing. A manager who has a track record of micromanagement documented by multiple employees concerned enough to post on a public forum like Glassdoor should have the good sense to take a step back, examine their behavior, and consider that they are contributing more to the problem than the solution. - The benefits are dismal. The company is unwilling to contribute to a medical insurance plan. I was offered dental and vision alone. - Pay is not a living wage. If you get the job, expect to seek out a part time job as well or begin looking for another position right away. - The office reeks of smoke, poorly made aromatherapy candles and chemicals from the printing company downstairs. It will make your head spin. - The CEO will often “encourage” you to stay after hours to continue work as she feels you’ve not accomplished enough throughout the day. This is mostly due to the 6+ hours of meetings. These critiques may seem heavy handed, but I can only go off of my experience. This was a poor enough experience that I don’t bother including this position on my resume.

We were all saddened to see this disturbing post from you Erika Johnston, especially since you left the company over seven months ago and were only there for a couple weeks. We all know how much you struggled with grasping the concept of a global media business and with the demands of the admin support position, but it's truly unfortunate you felt compelled to leave a post full of lies and exaggerations, especially after everyone was so welcoming and supportive towards you. We hope you find a position that will suit your needs and abilities better in the future.

Pros

Great, fast growing wellness and travel focused industry to work in! Both the internal and remote teams are wonderful to work and collaborate with on projects and events. I’ve gained valuable insight and skills through my experience in this position , especially working alongside the CEO and Editorial Director.

Cons

It’s a fast paced environment, but this means there’s always something to do and provides a lot of opportunity to grow.

Pros

Trauma bonding with co workers. Nice office space.

Cons

Honestly, the worst job I have ever had. I was so emotionally worn out after working here, I definitely should have read this company reviews beforehand
