Pros

As an entry-level participant in New York's competitive publishing industry, Overlook was an excellent employer to guide me through my first years on the job.

Cons

A small staff contributes to limited opportunities for growth -- publisher Peter Mayer is an excellent person to work with but can be challenging.

Pros

The staff at Overlook are overworked and under-appreciated, but against all odds, they manage to put out an astounding amount of quality books. My former colleagues were some of the brightest, most talented, funniest, and patient people. If I could be thankful for anything from this hellish experience, it would be that I had the opportunity to befriend them.

Cons

In short, the management at Overlook is ruining the company one delayed meeting, one re-scheduled pub date, and one enraged author at a time. The publisher refuses to step down from his position because his inflated ego has convinced him the company can't stand on its own. What he doesn't understand is that he is the source of nearly all the company's problems.
