Pros

The staff at Overlook are overworked and under-appreciated, but against all odds, they manage to put out an astounding amount of quality books. My former colleagues were some of the brightest, most talented, funniest, and patient people. If I could be thankful for anything from this hellish experience, it would be that I had the opportunity to befriend them.

Cons

In short, the management at Overlook is ruining the company one delayed meeting, one re-scheduled pub date, and one enraged author at a time. The publisher refuses to step down from his position because his inflated ego has convinced him the company can't stand on its own. What he doesn't understand is that he is the source of nearly all the company's problems.

Pros

-flexible hours, easy internship to get - get experience reading manuscripts and writing reader reports

Cons

-interns are never trained on duties, have to report to assistant for tasks throughout the day. Are discouraged from asking for advice, told to look in "intern handbook" if they have any questions. -interns are treated as disposable-- frequently called "intern", no one bothered to learn names, only worked directly with assistants and entry level employees, never introduced to editors or publishers - a lot of passive-agressiveness and hostility between employees,
