Pros

They draw you in with a good paying salary.

Cons

I worked as a Property Manager for Playa Vista Apartments under Pacifica Companies, and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. The company shows a complete disregard for employee safety. They manage dangerous properties without providing adequate security or support, leaving on-site staff exposed to serious risks. This was a constant concern and something management failed to address meaningfully. Ownership appears very out of touch with the day-to-day realities of their communities. It often felt like they did not care about the actual condition of the properties. On top of that, the company owes money to multiple vendors, which makes it extremely difficult to find vendors willing to perform work. This directly impacts operations and reflects poorly on on-site management, despite it being outside of their control. During the interview process, you are told that ownership is capable, open to capital improvements, and genuinely interested in making changes based on the property manager’s recommendations. Once you start the job, you quickly learn this is not true. Ownership is resistant to change and unwilling to invest, even when issues are urgent or clearly documented. Expectations for property performance are completely unrealistic and fail to take into account the many hurdles you face, including lack of funding, unpaid vendors, poor property conditions, and safety concerns. On-site staff are held accountable for problems they are not given the tools or authority to fix. Overall, Pacifica Companies does not support its property managers and misrepresents its level of involvement and commitment during the hiring process. I would not recommend this company to anyone considering a management role unless significant changes are made.
