Remote work and learning is nice, but risks are high - Eginner Paddle Employee Review

Pros

Full remote, lots of opportunities for learning. Peers look out for each other.

Cons

After 3 years, if you are not promoted to senior, you are fired whether you are doing a great job or not. By the way, getting a promotion there is more rare than seeing a total solar eclipse. If you get a good manager, they will try to help you even though the company itself does zero contribution for that to happen. If you get a bad manager it is almost certain that you are gonna get fired after those 3 years. Also, the company is constantly going through internal changes both Engineering related changes and team being disbanded and members going to new teams. Constant firefighting. All that makes it really hard for you to focus on developing yourself. Not to mention the internal gossip that is constant, the blaming culture that some managers seem to just not care, but also contribute to and the fact that engineers seem to be forced to be in a constant estate of "I need to prove myself to this company". So unless you don't have a better option. I don't recommend working there.

Pros

Enjoyed the people. Good communication culture.

Cons

Tough to move upwards. Lots of moving parts when it came to product offering and internal goals.
