Parkman is a very bad place to work. If you are looking for your first job, this is not a good place where to start. You will not learn anything good, only bad habits. If you are looking for a new job, you do not deserve a place like this. You can do better anywhere else. These are the reasons:
Founders lack of professional experience, this is their first job. They are amateurs, they don’t know how a software company works, what practices are needed and how things work in the industry. Their manage the company as if it is a university project.
The good reviews in glassdoor have been written by the founders and by request from them to a few employees. They don’t take the feedback as an input to work with, they believe it is just angry people who are against them.
The CEO has zero knowledge of programming, designing or technology background, but he claims to actively participate in those activities and pressures the employees hurrying them up.
Bad management. Founders believe knowledge comes with the name of the role they adopted, but they have no experience, no training nor interest in develop their management skills.
Lack of a clear strategy: the goals are based in what airbnb and uber reached, but not in a historical information, market study or real projection studies. They really think that because uber did it, they will too.
Lack of contingency plans: CEO said that he doesn’t believe in plans B, so he risks the company and its employers, basically he gambles with the company because in the worst scenario, he sells and he makes a good number out of it meanwhile the rest of the people will lose their job.
CEO has the majority of the shares, it is his way or nothing, he’s a very closed mind person who believes he’s the new version of Steve Jobs. He cannot see outside the box.
The company has the aim of being based in junior positions because junior people do not contradict, it is also the first job for most of the people. It is a bad first job because of the lack of good practices and professionalism.
In the last 3 months, 1/3 of the company employees have been fired. Most of them were senior people that have been working here for 2 to 4 years.
People with 2 years of experience are named senior as a way of keeping them in the company but not because they have senior skills.
No metrics and as the founders don’t know anything about software development, they don’t know how long it takes to implement a feature. This means that most of the people say “one week” when they can implement everything in 2 days.
Women are treated as dumb and they make remarkable differences in between genders.
Lack of a good working and professional environment and zero trainings policy. The company does not offer constant training in important matters such as methodologies, programming, management, soft skills, etc. The managers do not care about their own training, so they don’t care about others neither.
Lack of communication, listening to others and acceptance of mistakes. Managers blame others instead of taking responsibility. They do not iterate through issues or revise where the problems come from to avoid repeating situations. They blame investors, employees and external sources for their mistakes and they say that out loud, showing that they are not good in what they do.
Lack of security and testing in their products. Their software quality is bad. Demands can come anytime due to serious security issues within the apps.
No UX/UI designer has lasted more than 6 months or survived the trial period. The CEO believes he’s a UX designer and other people’s ideas are not taken. You must follow what he says instead of being creative as you should be in this role.
Experienced developers leave the company after just a few months of working because they see how amateur the environment is.
They have the zero investment in marketing strategy, which will lead to nothing as people do not know about the existence of the app or company without any marketing.
Zero career opportunities.
Zero company projections.
There is huge fat cash bonus if they hire somebody you recommend and that person passes the trial period, but nobody recommends anyone since this is a terrible place to work. I think this says everything.
