Pros

Best team I've every worked with, no comparison. Super mission-driven - everyone is here because they want to build a business that has a positive impact on the world. Really eager and excited public entity users - it's fun working with procurement teams and other public servants who are really grateful and happy that we're building products for them. They're very underserved and very appreciative and friendly!

Cons

It's a startup-up solving a hard problem, so "work-life balance" probably isn't the right focus. I'm not working because someone tells me to (or is Slacking me after hours or on weekends), but I do end up working more than I would at at FAANG company. But it's because there's a lot to do, limited time to do it, and I'm really excited about what we're building, and my team members are in the trenches with me, too.

Pros

- The mission to fix procurement is super inspiring. When we help governments purchase disaster relief supplies or improvements to local infrastructure, it's clear how the work directly impacts the public. - The team is wonderful to work with. People are friendly and fun but also really engaged. Engineers say this is the fastest team they've ever seen and a great place to learn by doing. The mission attracts teammates interested in civics, and from diverse backgrounds (engineering is mostly women + nonbinary folks!). People genuinely like hanging out. - Compared to other startups, the founders did an amazing job setting up mature processes and a nontoxic work-life balance. They set an example of working hard while also prioritizing kids & family.

Cons

- Marketplaces are hard. Designing for multiple core user personas with a small team is hard (and a constant balancing act). There's a lot to do, and a high velocity bar. It can feel intense sometimes. - Like a lot of startups its age, Pavilion had a rough time transitioning from the ZIRP era to a harder fundraising environment. More focus on revenue earlier would've made things a lot easier later.

Pros

- Amazing people who genuinely care about improving government, are deeply committed to their craft, and are the strongest performers I've worked with. - A CEO who is thoughtful, transparent, and empathetic toward the people we serve and our team. - A upbeat, encouraging culture that makes it fun to spend time with teammates working on hard problems. - Respect for work/life balance and parenting that is hard to find at early startups.

Cons

- It's a startup so learning and updating quickly is par for the course.
