Pros

If you are willing and able you will be hired quickly and have a steady job. Always more work to be done and decent benefits. Nice location and views of China town from 12th story of FIDI building. Good free coffee. Nice CEO who knows his trade.

Cons

You will be given unmanageable workload with unrealistic expectations and poor management. Lots of unique and outdated processes and software used daily that you have to learn on the job with minimal training. Poor management has led to high turnover and due to their large volume of clients you are thrown into swim on your own quickly to get the job done. Three people quit while I was there my first three months. Basically a dead end paper pushing job with a nice CEO but because it's a small private firm in a industry dominated by large corporations there isn't much room for growth.

Positive and constructive negative feedback is always welcome. Without feedback from clients and employees we would not have been able to stay successfully in business for over twenty years. Accounting, HR and payroll is known to be a stressful and deadline driven environment and may not be suitable for most people. We look for self motivated and organized individuals who work well with clients, are professional and have other experiences to bring to the work environment.

Pros

PRG will take care of you like family. We get decent benefits, a monthly travel allowance and a generous 401k profit allocation. Unlike many Bay Area companies, we do not work long hours or have to deal with petty politics. The company has been around for over 20 years and has high expectations for integrity and making sure clients are well taken care of. I like the detail nature of the work and that we get exposure to benefits, payroll tax and other human resource areas.

Cons

Nothing major to report other than we don’t have formalized training programs and have to “self-learn” on the job for the most part.

Pros

-If you have absolutely no background in payroll, but eager to learn, and have some admin & customer service experience, then you will most likely get the job as the Account Specialist. There was a total of 7 during my time. -You will definitely get a ton a experience at this agency. -On payroll processing days there's free lunch, at the choosing of who ever manages it! -Mondays it's 'Fruit Day!' -Good Employee Benefits -Nice location on the 11th floor with a nice view of the city

Cons

-Very low pay, especially in the SF area -Very bad management, with high turnover rate. -There was unnecessary favoritism in the office -No team building events -Lots of work to do, especially when someone leaves. The client accounts would be distributed amongst the team.

As with all businesses, we have challenges with both managers and employees. Some work out and other don't. We try to be proactive in helping employees achieve their goals and grow within our very competitive industry. Sometimes both the employee and employer may fall short and hard feelings will result.
