Benefits are lacking and pay is underwhelming. Negotiate for what you can because the reviews don't matter. If you get a raise it's in the the 2% range. The company turnover is high and if you stay any number of years you will be training new hires constantly. This place is setting themselves up to be a training ground for other companies. They will hire and watch any talent leave for better pay and benefits. The control room is poorly run, and a lack of vision is stunting the growth. They are using a 10 hr alternate work agreement to eliminate OT which limits the amount of money an operator can make. Also, they have decided that they will not go medium impact to avoid the NERC compliance that is associated with that impact. That decision has not only limited the amount of contracts that they can attract but it means that they need to sub control room monitoring for the wind sites that their sister company already maintains. WWS is their sister company and has a portfolio of wind sites. Maxgen and WWS are owned by Pearce, and since Maxgen is incapable of monitoring those wind sites they have to pay another company to do so. This is poor leadership and poor planning. Maxgen has lied to its employees over and over again. Techs will decide to start looking for another job and will be told that they are up for raises and promotions that never come. These are lies that are across the board and should be watched out for. Recently, Maxgen has moved its control room to Tehachapi and without warning fired 3 operators without giving them a chance to relocate. These were 3 operators that understood the processes and did not receive any disciplinary action over the course of their time there. The company shows no loyalty for good employees. There is a culture in the company that allows people to backstab and undercut for promotions, so be careful. There isnt a path to climb the ladder, its more of a path to stack bodies to get to the top. Its not a matter of how well you do your job or your experiences on your resume, its a matter of who you know and how much you can lie your way into a position. Leadership is unaware of what is happening at ground level. The control room has changed VP's multiple times which has affected the growth. There has been a loss of contracts in the last few years with less coming in, and that trend is leading to failure. This is long but must be said. This job is for inexperienced people looking to gain experience and build a resume. If you have a resume built, move on, this is not the place for you.

Pros

Great company with significant travel, well-suited for individuals already accustomed to being on the road. The organization provides extensive training, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures and best practices. The role involves a high level of independent work while still being supported by great coworkers who value teamwork and consistently support one another.

Cons

Since CBRE acquired Pearce Services, there have been significant changes that have negatively impacted the organization. These issues do not appear to stem from CBRE itself, but rather from Pearce Services’ management. When the acquisition was discussed in November 2025, employees were informed that no major changes would occur under CBRE; however, many internal processes and management practices were altered afterward. Several managers from Pearce Services implemented changes seemingly to present themselves favorably to the parent company, often without regard for employee well-being. As a result, some employees are classified as full-time but are consistently scheduled for part-time hours, creating instability and dissatisfaction within the workforce. Employees are being told that these actions are the result of guidance and expectations from CBRE’s higher-level leadership.
