Pros
You do get a 30% employee discount and sometimes you get free items from trainings. I met some of the best friends I have ever had at this job, but that is not a reflection of the company.
Cons
They expect a lot out of employees and do not pay them well. In addition to not paying them well corporate has implemented a new strategy of scheduling associates more days a week in 3 or 4 hour shifts because they believe productivity will go down significantly after the fourth hour. But what corporate doesn't realize is that many of their sales associates are spending more of their already crap pay on gas to facilitate their ridiculous schedules. This company likes to tell employees there are tons of opportunities to move up but peekay promotes usually out of necessity and has even coerced people into taking promotions (because the store they wanted them to manage didn't do well and then expected that employee to turn it all around). They have even threatened to cut the employee's pay if they didn't take the job. There is very little room to move up in this company and even when you do the compensation still isn't worth all the extra responsibility. Upper management and corporate do not care about front line employees what so ever. Front line employees are asked to go above and beyond, yet are treated as if they are expendable. Nothing is ever good enough either. This company has unrealistic sales expectations and even when you make your overall sales goal if your "units per transaction" or "average transaction value" isn't where it should be then you aren't doing well enough. They will never compliment you on a good job. I have only ever received a back handed compliment such as "you did great, but..." There was always a but after every compliment. Another huge negative about this company is that they do not really care if you want to go back to school. If you are an assistant manager or higher then you are committed to them full time without them caring about furthering your own career and life goals. The work environment itself was a high pressure and competitive work environment (and we weren't even on commission to cause that competition). I initially joined the company because I did support their goals of sexual health and wellness, but with their new corporate changes they have become something else entirely. Some of their products are incredibly low quality and even contribute to yeast and urinary tract infections in women yet they continue to sell them anyway (so much for sexual health and wellness)!! They pandered to what is socially sexually acceptable. Most of what they sell is marketed to women only and heterosexual couples. Peekay is now like a living version of a bad Cosmo article.
