Pros

Flexible work environment Flexible PTO Work From Home Opportunities

Cons

The Executive Director has authored nearly every review on this page. Be wary of this organization. It is a toxic work environment and you are pushed, on little pay and way too little time, to do way more than you were hired for. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews fake authored by one person.

Permanent Legacy Foundation Response

Thank you for this feedback. We couldn’t agree more that actions speak louder than words. Permanent is a nonprofit organization with a small, tight knit team that puts every staff person in a leadership role. We maintain a collaborative and inclusive environment where everyone’s voice is heard to make sure all staff, contractors and partners feel like they have a meaningful influence on the direction of our organization. We do make that happen by co-creating performance expectations and coworking guidelines, conducting bi-annual 360 reviews for all team members, hosting quarterly OKR planning retreats, investing in internship opportunities with community partners, and giving every departing team member an exit interview to capture concerns and recommendations. Our regular cadence of weekly team meetings and individual check-ins creates ample room for feedback and a transparent shared accountability framework. We also make regular efficiency improvements to our meeting schedules in response to employee feedback. Even being a small nonprofit, we are still proud to maintain competitive salaries that are determined by pay equity landscape review and work with contractors that understand and share our values. Staff also receive yearly COLA as well as regular performance based increases. Our mission, vision and values drive everything that we do and program initiatives like Byte for Byte ensure that we make real progress on those goals. Despite our best efforts, we understand that the dynamic, challenging, and busy nature of an ambitious social impact nonprofit effort is not the ideal environment for everyone. We regret that we couldn’t address your concerns while you were here. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

There's a lot of nice things about working for Permanent. The schedule was flexible while I was there, I believe it's even more so these days. I felt like I had autonomy to do my work, but there were a couple other developers I could talk to if I got stuck. Probably the best thing was that I felt like leadership (Robert particularly) really valued my opinions when it came to DEI stuff. As a person belonging to multiple marginalized groups (lgbtq+, women, latinx), a lot of places I feel like I have to pick my battles . At Permanent, I didn't feel that way. I felt safe and respected saying what was on my mind and like it actually impacted the environment and our product.

Cons

No shade to the Permanent's mission, but working on what seems like a billionaires pet project is a little weird.
