Pros
you meet new people and can become great friends with the people you work with, 50% off pj’s, occasionally learn new and interesting things about how a store functions
Cons
management turns a blind eye to bullying, your manager can grow slack and “delegate” all tasks to others and take all the credit when the store does well even though everyone else is doing their work for them, if you have an issue with your manager and report it to your regional they won’t do anything but “have a talk” with them, manager will pick and choose when they want to work and often give less than 30mins notice they’re not coming in, manager fails to do rosters properly so it’s a guessing game if you’ll be called in even one hour before they need someone to work, sometimes you’ll show up to work and not even have a key to get in because your manager didn’t tell you you’re the only person rostered on to open, people are made to close the store without manager or PIC assistance even if they don’t know how to, manager will have unrealistic expectations and expect you to do “120 boxes of stock in 1 hour”, manager will leave a mess in back room and get mad if anyone else does the same, manager will discuss a rotating roster with you but never implement it and either give you no shifts in a week or will make you work unreasonable hours, unrealistic KPI expectations, horrible customers who will abuse you, belittle you and trash your store, obvious favouritism by manager, availabilities not being considered unless you provide a valid enough reason but they’re never taken into account anyways so what does it matter, no work life balance because even when you’re at home you have to deal with store problems even if you’re just a part timer, can be treated as the problem for standing up for yourself (asking not to do 3hr shifts every time, saying u can’t stay until late, etc.)
