Pros
People you work with are friendly, generous 50% discount on all products plus two 70% discounts per quarter to use on pjs to wear to work. When you have a good manager its a fun place to work. Great opportunity to work part-time instead of casual, meaning you get sick pay and annual leave.
Cons
Very high staff turnover, have had 4 managers in the space of 1 year. Very labour intensive work - not the kind of job where you just stand at the register or walk around helping people. As a part timer you'll be expected to work whole days from 10-7, unload stock, manage the backroom, open/close the store, learn how to run a day, early starts for floor moves and window changed etc. It is physically demanding. If you're a uni student don't expect management to listen to your needs - have previously been rostered on for days that I've had NA'd for months and you will get asked to work more hours during busy periods so the work/uni/life balance is particularly difficult to manage. With a good manager this isn't a problem, but with a bad one it can definitely affect the team. Customers are always right, upper management micro manage to the point where staff are completely overworked considering how abysmal the pay is. No bonuses, no recognition for the work you put in.
