Pros

They'll mail you a care package of goodies on your first day. They provide fairly decent equipment. Virtual happy hours. Some very friendly people here who try to improve the culture. They obviously see what’s wrong with this company, and they try to make up for it with making great first impressions.

Cons

The amount of Cons are far greater than the amount of Pros. Pay is below average. No opportunity for career growth or advancement. Very dishonest management. Management acts mostly on emotions. Lots of fraternization in a tiny company of less than 50 people. Only two people of color in the company. No people of color in senior leadership. Not a progressive company by any means. No HR department. Some very skilled silver-tongued talkers in this company. My advice to you is to not buy into any of it. Don’t let them pull the wool over your eyes. Be very careful. Cloud Engineers, beware! You will not have a voice in this role. You will be treated as nothing more than a trained monkey whose only purpose is to pump out Azure infrastructure at the whims of very inexperienced developers. As far as the software development process goes, there will be no collaboration on your part (you can try, but they’ll do their own thing anyway). If you’re worth your salt, you’ll know that collaboration is crucial to the success of an organization that has adopted DevOps. The truth is, they aren’t adopting DevOps at all, as they will not agree to breaking down their organizational silos to make that happen. They are about colluding and fraternizing. This isn't just about DevOps, this is about healthy cultures in general. Everyone wants to do everything their own way, and you will have no voice to make suggestions or recommendations. When you see that what they’re doing is wrong or will cause problems later, they won't listen to you. This is a cultural pathology that absolutely kills any level of collaboration and innovation. Beware that they will try to make you think otherwise, and it’s entirely up to you as to how quickly you see through it and catch on that they are being disingenuous with you. Throughout the rest of this company, they’re still doing many things in very archaic ways and, for as “nimble” as they would like to think they are, they are not very receptive in adopting new ways. There are a few people here (mainly in managerial roles) who will be in the way of you being effective, because they’re too proud and they fear being replaced because they've been nothing more than a bump on a log for years. This is an additional cultural pathology that you will be forced to navigate around, but you will find that this will ultimately make you unsuccessful in your role. If you have any valuable skills, do not make this your first option. Only take an offer here if you’re absolutely desperate and are willing to be a trained monkey. There are far better companies out there worth investing your talents.

Pros

The is a high functioning team who cares about each other and the customer ahead of all else. The leadership is fully transparent and you meet everyone including the CEO every two weeks at the all team meetings! Your work and success is applauded by team members because the culture drives people to be happy for one another. You can put on multiple hats and learn a lot based on your interests. You get to work on big health care market problems... the solutions are used almost all pharmacies and support data for the majority of elderly patients in the U.S. You know everyone in the company. There's a strong sense of growth in the company as we hire more people to support all the new programs. Your creative ideas are actually used! Oh an every employee is in the bonus pool today, that's just great!

Cons

As a small company, the benefits are not top in class, but they are still good. There are growing pains of hiring people and choosing the right ones if you have to do it fast is not fun. But it's a part of the game if you want to grow quickly. It's not always easy. Because we're growing there's changes and we have to adapt quickly and problems that we have to solve as a team.
