Pros

The perks of being in a Silicon Valley/SF Bay Area tech startup office. Food, beverages, etc. That's about it.

Cons

Even during the salary negotiating, post-interview period, one could already tell that this is a company run by disingenuous, superficial people. During my time here, I dealt with inept middle management typical of traditional tech startups where "openness" is merely paid lip service. Everyone was obsessed with what they did prior to joining this company, at Facebook, Google, etc., instead of looking forward or using the actual creativity they purport to espouse. As well, one has to suffer through the usual self-congratulatory attitude, a profound lack of self-awareness, and shallowness of these so-called liberal, progressive types in tech who are never challenged on their actual beliefs. I had three different managers during my time here and each one was as tone-deaf and ineffectual as the last. The most disgusting part was maybe the casual racism. It's not an issue particular to Pinterest, but perhaps society as a whole, but when the entire company is majority cis-gendered, straight, White men, then you can guess the ingrained ignorance involved. These people are very calculated; just be aware of that. No one stays long. You can do better than working for a company whose main product is a repackaged Google image search. The real genius is how they sell people "creativity" through IP infringement. Nothing better exemplifies the surface level, vapid nature of these people.

Pros

WLB Remote work (which is slowly ending). Strong ICs

Cons

Poor leadership vision, strategy, and execution. Rebranding products that already exist as net new to chase a headline. Unclear career growth unless you are internally connected to “the right people”. Middle management that is there to boost their career / repackage IC ideas as their own with zero credit. RTO rollout was botched leading to senior sellers leaving. Lots of toxic positivity and virtue signaling
