Pros
- good catering - good benefits - fair compensation
Cons
- lack of transparency - lack of connected culture - poor leadership - inexperienced colleagues - misdirected priorities - terrible HR As mentioned by other people, Plastiq over-hired and went through extensive layoffs earlier this year (both pre and during COVID-19). This was an extremely disappointing experience, and did not strictly impact those recently most hired. Their insight into why they kept other people on seemed to be due to favoritism in some cases, and not related to work ethic. Additionally, this was handled by 'HR' starting these conversations saying 'Just so you know, this won't be pleasant' - never in my life have I experience such stark lack of empathy in any work environment. Outside of this, the company was extremely unorganized and had team goals with little insight into how those goals were calculated, or how people should work towards them. The company prided itself on their values, including the culture, but the culture seemed to only exist for longer term employees who knew each other well. People did not go out of their way to meet or include new people, and it felt very isolating at times. Work ethic did not always seem to be rewarded, as many people seemed to periodically check email and then play ping pong. Employees on some teams were drastically over paid (which was a nice perk while experiencing it), but I feel like this also contributed to the layoffs. I had high hopes when starting here, but they were dashed quickly. I do not think this is an ideal environment for any professional, and would suggest looking for a company that is actually true to their values.
