Portland Leather Goods

Is this your company?

This place is terrible to work at. The CEO does not care about employees or their customers. - Anonymous employee Portland Leather Goods Employee Review

Pros

The one good thing about PLG is that they used to hire lovely people.

Cons

The 5 star reviews are clearly coerced/fake. Notice how it's all generic positive things? They give 3% raises if anything at all. They removed most people from salary they'd had for years and dropped them down to hourly. They overwork people and when interviewing for a different position, I was told that "most of us cry at our desk". They launched and tanked a shoe company. Lost tens of millions of dollars because they couldn't take the time to properly test the footwear. They moved the headquarters of PORTLAND Leather Goods to AUSTIN, Tx for tax reasons. The CMO who is in charge of most the of the US based company, has zero experience and got their job by saying yes to everything the owner wants. The owner is a marketing guy, not a craftsman. If you want more insight, follow the him on LinkedIn, you'll see what kind of person he is.

Pros

My coworkers have been great, but that's where the pros end. My experience with Portland Leather Goods has been nothing but miserable. Employees are overworked, underpaid, and disrespected. We're treated as nothing more than disposable pawns, with our well-being constantly being overlooked.

Cons

Employees are overworked and undervalued. Work-life balance is pretty awful due to employees being forced to work long hours, meet unreasonable demands, and keep up with outrageous deadlines all the time without any support from management! Our pay is terrible as well; it's insultingly low and doesn't reflect our workloads at all. We don't receive any performance bonuses, and none of our hard work is ever rewarded due to how biased the leadership is. Unless you have connections, you won't see a lot of success here.
