Pros

Hourly wage is on the higher end. Hours are nice. You have immediate support for questions most of the time.

Cons

Management is extremely incompetent. The business is ran by an RN and an IT specialist who are in over their heads on how a lab should function. Upper management are extreme micromanagers and burn out lower end management and staff. They can never take responsibility for their failures at managing their work force and blame everything on toxic ex employees. Marisa’s attitude and behavior leaves a lot to be desired. They only approve PTO- no specific sick leave allowance; but they won’t pay out your PTO either. Everyone is constantly wrote up for the minorest of infractions while they don’t mind forcing staff to send off specimens that were received unlabeled. There are always new rules and regulations being implemented but staff isn’t informed half of the time. Management will say one thing and then turn around and deny it. You have to physically document every little thing to cover your own back. Very little room for growth and career advancement. Benefits are a joke. Some of the highest insurance rates I have seen to date. This company won’t last 5 years. The only people giving 5 stars are spouses of employees.

Pros

Despite being only two years old, this lab is already making a significant impact in the industry. The pay is highly competitive, reflecting the value placed on our expertise and contributions. All major analytical equipment is brand new and under service warranty, providing us with reliable, cutting-edge tools to deliver precise, high-quality test results. The workplace culture is refreshingly positive, free from toxic dynamics, with everyone collaborating as a cohesive team toward the shared goal of accurate testing. Leadership shows genuine care for employees, creating a supportive environment where you feel truly valued. The company is always striving to improve, addressing challenges proactively to refine processes. There are also endless opportunities for career growth, with clear paths for professional development.

Cons

As a new company, the laboratory is still building its structure, and some processes lack the polish of more established organizations. However, any gaps are quickly identified and addressed with impressive responsiveness. Overall, working here is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team that prioritizes quality, collaboration, and employee well-being, making it a fantastic place to grow a career. Also, I'm not sure why a few reviewers are obsessed with the cameras. This is pretty common in laboratories, healthcare, and most industries these days. There are no cameras in the front or back offices, none in the hallways, and there are no cameras in the breakroom. There is one camera in the lounge/back conference room, but that is pointing directly at an exit door to the patio and not at the actual lounge. It's a weird thing to be so unhappy about, but consider the source I guess.

Pros

Great people. Honest, fair, and they have built a family atmosphere. You are not a number at Pretorian Labs, which was a great change from my previous employer.

Cons

There were some toxic people at the company while I was there. People who could make a difference, but they would rather complain and whine vs fixing the issues head on. Thankfully both of those employees were in over their heads and moved on from the company.
