Pros
As a field investigator for 3 1/2 years I have found the job very exciting. We make our own schedules, meet new people constantly, and work independently once fully trained. The job is also challenging in that we must meet deadlines to keep happy clients but management assists with balancing the workload when needed. Management also consistently asks how your workload is rather than just demanding that you take on an unrealistic caseload. Of course, being organized and self-driven is the key to managing your caseload, and key to an investigator's success.
The company is growing which is a tribute to the integrity and stability of management and the employees they hire.
My favorite part of the company, other than the investigative work itself, is the life/work balance. We make our own schedules so doctor's appointments, errands during the day, etc. are ok as long as we get the work done and can be reached if needed.
I cannot comment about what it is like to work in the office because the investigators work from home. We can drive up to 4 hours from home for an investigation, but we are paid for driving. PROBE has become great with rewarding good things that employees do which I thought was lacking just a bit when I first started. Management is always looking for ways to improve and they listen.
If you are independent, self-motivated and like to be in different places everyday, PROBE field work is for you!
Cons
Sick time is not paid, but you can use PTO for that if you need to.
