Pros

The people - 100%, the fast learning, the leaning into new opportunities. This place is so fun, and I feel like I have made life-long friends here. Uplift - we support non-profits with probono consulting and it fills my bucket! Also DEI fell off a bit, but I'm starting to see positive signs in our leadership. Amy Weeden is amazing.

Cons

The idea of leaving Propeller truly makes me so sad. But the expectations are so great. In order to be a "great" consultant you have to be delivering at the client, contributing internally to the firm in some way (initiatives, account lead support, etc.), and also leaning into BD. It feels like Propeller is super focused on PIPELINE and forgetting who FILLS that pipeline. Without your people you have no people service. More and more vetted consultants are leaving everyday and a lot of the times people are leaving without a job lined up. What does that tell you? Burnout is too high, people would rather risk having nothing in this economy than being here a second longer. I'm not saying I'm there yet, but I see it all around. And I'm starting to feel this way too. If I say I can't handle the workload, then IM the problem so I just have to log back on at night like everyone else. Also Propeller pay is pretty low - it's kind of known in Portland and other geos. I have friends at Slalom and Percipio who make more than me in lower levels with less tenure and experience. It use to be that it was okay, because Propeller also wasn't the kind of firm that worked you to the bone...now that things have shifted and they're more like that...they should adjust the pay.
