      Pros

      Public Health Solutions is a mid-size non-profit that truly does strive to live by it's values. Work-life-balance is valued across teams. There is a genuine sense of community and I really have enjoyed my working relationships within my program (WholeYouNYC) and across teams. The overall HQ office environment is supportive.

      Cons

      Pay is not as competitive as DOHMH positions. PHS follows a traditional hierarchy of leadership roles and promotion avenues. External professional development opportunities could be more robust and more equitably distributed across teams.

      Pros

      Great mission. Wonderful opportunity to serve New Yorkers in public health field. Some roles allow for you to work alongside NYC government employees at NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

      Cons

      Some salaries are unbelievably low. Unclear who to turn to for support when you need it, if you are working at DOHMH regularly. May have to deal with DOHMH HR and PHS HR. Questions/concerns may go unanswered because the separate HR Departments are not integrated. No salary increases :(
