Pros

You get to learn from experience. Meaning you get to experience everything first hand because no training will be provided. You get to figure out how it works on your own.

Cons

Very dirty office. Dust everywhere. Pots and vases of dirty unchanged water. Cecilia constantly leave lemons in the water jar for days and then will make you carry the heavy jar and clean out all the mold. Cecilia likes to decorate and will ask you to rearrange the office furniture for hours and get angry when your work is not completed. Very messy work flow. Tasks are assigned last minute with insufficient time. Many employees are forced to work until night, latest I left the office was 11pm. She constantly uses interns or those who apply for jobs to write up marketing plans and articles for a "writing test" and then post it up on Medhatter as her own article. She has a very bad temper and would constantly shout at employees and slam the door. She also tends to get violent, has a history of scratching employees.

Publicist PR Response

This employee had clocked in 20 MC / no show at work over a period of 90 days. As a result of poor performance, we had to terminate her employment after given sufficient warming. As she failed to return the office laptop, drawer keys and mobile phone issued to her, a police report was made. While we understand it can be upsetting to be terminated and it might even be understandable to undermine authority, it is quite another matter to steal and malign employers and colleagues who had given her many chances to prove herself at work. With our office monitored by 24 hour CCTV, such claims are sadly deep manifestation of the repeated lies that we have been subjected during her employment with us.

Pros

Got to attend cool events like fashion launch parties and food tastings. Learnt a lot from boss and colleagues. Office is conveniently located.

Cons

Overtime is a norm as there are deadlines every week and some events happen on weekends or after working hours. Building has no lift, had to walk up four storeys to get to office.

Pros

I was a sales executive for another firm for 3 years with a stagnant career and secure the job at Publicist through a mutual contact. My aim was to learn PR and events skills. The agency has great clients and I had a great rapport with the director, who allows great flexibility in working. Unlike other agencies where staff had to work till 12am, we enjoyed a high level of autonomy and relaxed atmosphere and working from home is encouraged. A strong culture of creativity and ownership is fostered. The team lead would also encourage us to think on our feet as part of the business culture that she wanted to foster. I was responsible for organising the monthly team bonding sessions where we got to really get to know one another. I enjoyed the freedom and creative vibes. Even though I was with the agency for less than a year, my director was kind enough to write me a letter of recommendation when I decided to take on a marketing role. Thanks to her, I secured the new job despite my limited experience. I am very grateful and feel that working for the firm had helped me move forward with my career.

Cons

The firm is small and you have to do your own admin work.
