Pros
For my six years at Purple, I've had the best time of my career as VP of QA. The company's culture is a major reason why. It's a place where we trust each other, and everyone believes that quality is a job for all of us, not just the QA team. This meant we could move on from simply finding bugs and focus on building a genuinely high quality product.
I got to build our QA team and methods from scratch, which was a fantastic chance for us to be innovative and grow. The team at Purple is really close knit, and everyone works together well. It's an incredibly positive and supportive place to be, and that makes coming to work a real pleasure.
Cons
The rapid pace of growth at Purple has put pressure on our resources in the QA department. There’s also room for improvement in formalising career progression for our more senior engineers.
