Pros

The facility has attractive grounds and scenic views from classrooms and guest rooms. Some aspects of the property have been updated cosmetically (paint, carpet, furniture). I received early recognition (Employee of the Month, multiple internal awards) during my tenure.

Cons

While cosmetic updates are evident, some operational infrastructure (AV/IT systems) felt outdated, and some facility maintenance issues (e.g., water leaks) were ongoing. Conference Services experienced frequent leadership turnover; I worked under three Directors of CS in two years, and the CS manager role also changed shortly before I left. Staffing challenges impacted workload. At one point, Conference Services was tasked with additional housekeeping responsibilities with promises of extra hours or temporary help that did not materialize. Instead, part-time hours were reduced and full-time roles were shifted to part-time, making it difficult to manage both existing duties and new assignments. Performance reviews were delayed and delivered without in-person discussion, which made it harder to understand expectations, growth areas, or development. Interdepartmental communication could be abrupt. Responsibilities tied to managing incoming work requests did not always allow reasonable response time before follow-up from other teams.

Pros

Great Co-Workers, Free Lunch, Decent Hours.

Cons

There is no room for advancement, HR is not there for the employees. They act like they are there to assist you when you go to them with issues, but they are actually in bed with upper management. (they brush it under the rug and treat you like you are the problem). If HR dislikes you, you will be frozen out and it becomes toxic. The pay is too low and they expect you to do over the top work for sub-par pay. Also, they do give you PTO, but you are forced to save it for the holidays during a 2 week shut down and various slow weeks during the year they cut your hours due to “budget cuts”
