Pros
You can work at some of the most interesting technologies. I have personally worked on cell phone SoCs, Automotive SoCs and Virtual Reality SoCs. It is very difficult to get these kind of exposure in other companies. Also company intranet is treasure trove of information. It is always easy to find an expert on any particular technology sitting inside the company.
Cons
a)Extremely political. Higher level promotions are rarely based on merit but more on favor from one VP to another. b) Compensation is not all competitive with the market anymore. c) Qualcomm's most important USP was that it was employee friendly. Recent actions have completely tarnished this image. Irwin Jacobs will be sad to see what the company has come to.
