Pros

No Pros to list here. You can't really find positive things in a company when they are doing so many things incorrectly and other tech companies have no hold backs at the magnitude Quest has. You may think "this is just 1 disgruntled employee". Please go check the current rating. At the time of posting this.. 24% of employees recommend working for this company to a friend. If you had 4 friends that worked at Quest and only 1 of them recommended working there...would you? What about 100 friends? And only 25 of them recommended it? Out of the 24% that's also including all of the reviews that were positive BEFORE the split when DSG was good. If you take those out the rating would be much lower than that. Make sure you read the cons below.

Cons

3 things to look at for the current state of Quest: ***Management ***Processes ***Direction ***Management*** Absolutely terrible. They are definitely only "managers" with their marching orders, and none are true leaders. All of the leaders were either laid off or hit the high road. Only to leave behind people looking for a quick opportunity to become managers (read: unqualified & unfit). ***Processes*** The absolute WORST in the tech space at this point in time. Guaranteed. If you're looking at opportunities here do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. I'll give you the low down. We (Quest) were originally a standalone software company acquired by Dell back in 2012 to become part of Dell Software Group. Before DSG, Quest was great and DSG was great as well. Processes worked. Marketing had a defined plan. Sales people actually sold stuff. Sales support teams had their processes down. Things were clicking. Dell Software Group (DSG) was sold to a VC firm in November 2016 and became Quest again. The VC firm didn't lay anyone off initially, but they certainly did in February with the new fiscal year. TONS of talent was laid off. TONS of very important people were laid off. The point is..if you're looking at a job here and you don't know anything about Quest you have been warned: you will likely encounter process problems for a year+ before things smooth over. Management has voiced this to us directly. AND - that year of time is assuming that nothing else will change (which it most likely will because Quest is managed by a VC now who only cares about the $ side of things), and that's also assuming that Quest won't be sold off (strong possibility there too). To top it off - if one of the main things you want in a company is a long term career that you will love it's not here. You will waste your time here. Which brings me to my last point.. ***Direction*** Given all of the info I gave you in the first 2 sections you probably know where this company is going. South. Fast. Actually. No. South is considered a direction and Quest doesn't have any of that at this point in time. Very sad as a ton of people wanted the transition and new company as a whole to be great.

Pros

I’ve had the opportunity to be part of this organization through multiple phases of growth, change, and transformation. Like many companies in the tech space, there have been challenges and periods of transition. What continues to stand out to me is the organization’s ability to adapt, evolve, and keep moving forward. There is a strong focus on innovation, continuous improvement, and finding better ways to work. Current leadership encourages employees to share ideas, embrace change, and help shape meaningful improvements. I’m especially excited about the growing focus on new technologies and AI, and how they’re being used to help teams work smarter, faster, and more effectively. One of the things I value most is the culture. Employees are encouraged to bring their authentic selves to work, share different perspectives, and participate in programs such as Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that foster connection, belonging, and community. I’ve appreciated the organization’s continued investment in these programs and in creating an environment where employees feel supported, heard, and valued. One of the most rewarding parts of my experience has been watching people grow their careers over time, whether that’s taking on new opportunities, moving into leadership roles, or exploring entirely new paths within the organization. In my experience, those who are willing to learn, have a growth mindset, stay adaptable, and embrace new opportunities can build long and rewarding careers here. After nearly a decade with the organization, I still believe its greatest strength is its people, culture, and commitment to continuous growth and improvement. I remain grateful for the opportunities, experiences, and relationships that have made my career journey both rewarding and meaningful.

Cons

Like many organizations, periods of growth and transformation can create change and uncertainty. Success often requires adaptability, a willingness to learn, and an openness to evolving priorities.

Pros

Quest Software is a great place to work. The people are genuinely good people, very knowledgeable, and always willing to help. Quest is a strong environment if you enjoy solving complex technical problems, working with experienced teams, and helping customers address real business and security challenges. The company has a deep portfolio, talented employees, and many opportunities to collaborate across sales, presales, product management, engineering, and customer-facing teams. I also appreciate the flexibility, the trust given to senior employees, and the ability to contribute strategically beyond a narrow job description.

Cons

Like many large technology organizations, processes can sometimes be complex, and internal alignment across teams may take time. There are also opportunities to improve enablement, communication, and consistency around product packaging, roadmap visibility, and internal workflows.
