Pros

- Exposure to exciting product and clients - Intelligent people

Cons

I'm really shocked to see Quietly have such a high rating on Glassdoor. My experience, and the experience of many of my coworkers was overwhelmingly negative. Apart from there being no work-life balance and little acknowledgement from management when this is brought up as an issue, many senior people (all white men) at Quietly are manipulative, and often abusive. This is framed as "constructive feedback", where they (and your other colleagues) freely criticize you on things that have nothing to do with your work performance. This includes everything from how you sit in meetings, your attire, the way you speak, your facial expressions...essentially everything that makes you an individual. There's also a lot of ego at Quietly. You will work with some highly intelligent people who are quick to flex their ego and show you where you rank within the company. There's a culture of intensity and internal competitiveness, which is strongly upheld by a number of young mid-managers (with no previous experience managing people) who will undermine and undercut you in order to advance their own careers. When this is mentioned to senior management (as there is no HR at Quietly), their response will be "we're aware of this, it's unfortunate, and we hope to train X out of these behaviours". No further action will be taken.

Thank you for taking the time to write Quietly a review on Glassdoor. It is important for us to hear how we are doing well and to identify areas where we need to improve. We are not used to one star reviews, so we are disappointed and surprised to learn about how you did not enjoy your time working with us. In our June 2020 staff survey, the results were overall very positive. We are happy to share that respect between co-workers was rated 4.5/5, being satisfied with culture was 4.13/5 and that managers had great relationships with their reports with a score of 4.25/5. That being said, we do take your feedback and honesty seriously and we are sincerely sorry you feel we were not able to resolve some of these problems regarding people, culture and management together. It sounds like we failed you somewhere along the way. We care deeply about our employees and invest significant time in ensuring they are supported and fulfilled in their contributions. Our managers work hard to build trust with their direct reports and meet on a regular basis to provide helpful and meaningful feedback. We also understand that feedback can sometimes seem critical, especially when the feedback received entails soft skills such as specifics on expectations of professionalism and communication. We do have many internal processes and meetings in place to ensure staff feel supported and equipped with a good work-life balance. We are proud that more than 50% of our team is female and that we have given the opportunity to grow our individuals internally to become leaders. We believe that diversity, inclusion and belonging is very important and like many organizations, we are constantly learning and evolving. Over this next quarter, in parallel to our pending B Corp application, we’ve committed to building a committee to thoughtfully review our internal processes, approaches and philosophies and work together to make improvements. Thank you again for sharing your feedback as it helps us make Quietly a better place to work. We believe that HR is very important in an organization and as such have had a Head of People and Places for the past two years and a new HR team member has recently joined us. If you have any specifics that you would like to connect with us about, please feel free to reach out to anyone on the team or Erica (erica@quiet.ly) directly. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours.

Pros

I learned a lot working at Quietly. I appreciated the opportunity to work with so many different clients. The team is smart and the business model kept things interesting.

Cons

I didn't always feel respected for my time, efforts and ideas. Many of us were underpaid for the amount of work we did and the pressures placed on us by leadership. Leadership would openly ridicule attempts to set boundaries and would at times pit employees against each other. Accessibility and inclusion was an afterthought.
