Pros

The work is fast‑paced and never boring — every shift is different, constant opportunities to learn because you interact with patients, nurses, providers, and other departments, you develop strong multitasking, crisis management, and communication skills.

Cons

Communication from leadership could be clearer and more consistent, training resources varied in quality between teams, retention challenges created frequent staffing gaps.

Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Cons

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
