Thank you for taking the time to comment on your experience at RDK.
We believe all staff are vital. We do believe that employees should be passionate about what they do. Perhaps we recognized that engineering wasn’t your true passion and felt that a transition would be beneficial to you and to us. In any case, we do value staff’s desires to increase knowledge and attempt to match employees’ interest in a particular discipline.
Easy to get help especially as a new employee
Group setup means you are closely working with the other trades on all the projects. This was great as a new mech.e to get exposure to the other trades.
Time flexibility. Working from home after a site visit is a big time saver. As long as you get the work done, coordinate appropriately, and don't blow the budget you have a LOT of time flexibility.
Opportunity to work in other market sectors if you seek it out
They pay for your licensing (EIT/PE)
Friendly coworkers
Great starting benefits/holiday
Cons
Tight budgets are the norm in this industry. Sometimes means it feels like you're cranking jobs out.
Would be nice to have a bit more training at the front end
Starting salary is lower than other mechanical engineering jobs but increases quickly as you gain experience and licenses.
Hopefully doesn't change too much under NV5
