how managers handle terminations in a way that feels cold, contradictory, and deeply unprofessional. You can be called into a 1:1 meeting and told your position is being eliminated due to "performance issues"—even though you’ve consistently been told your performance is strong and were never placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). What makes it worse is how it’s handled: the manager delivers the news with no empathy, refuses to answer any questions, and abruptly leaves the call—offering no kind words or respect. You're left on the call with HR, blindsided, hurt, and without any real explanation or closure. you can be let go simply for challenging leadership or holding them accountable. If you speak up, question decisions, or advocate for better processes, you're often seen as a threat rather than a contributor. They expect silence and obedience, and if you don't conform, you're disposable. Also this is family run business so that tells you a lot.
