Pros

When you decide to quit or get fired "Oh What a Relief It Will Be!".

Cons

To many to list but here a few highlights. The pay is low and they term it double gross, this means your low pay also includes their contribution toward any health benefits you may elect. The company is totally dysfunctional and the CAO expects perfection and is an expert at passing blame. No vacation the first year and only 5 PTO days up through 4 years. Did I mention Double Gross Pay! From my experience there I could write a book on how to not manage a company.

Pros

* RELCO is a small enough company that individual contributions and suggestions *CAN* make a difference. * While the work is challenging, the wages are fair. * Your co-workers are nice people to work beside each day. * You can listen to the radio and smoke in the shop. * They have very good health care benefits, they make contributions to your health care premiums. * The work is rewarding to see locomotives roll out of the shop looking like new and knowing you had a part in it. * Senior employees work hard to train newer employees.

Cons

* The eye care insurance needs more options in Iowa and better coverage. * The shop can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter; due to the doors opening and closing to allow locomotives in and out.

Pros

Excellent facility in Albia, Iowa with some very good skilled employees (if they are still there). Good place to learn about railroad industry and locomotives. If you are willing to do the job, you can volunteer for any job and be involved in all kinds of projects. You can see some exciting projects being done at facility for major Class I railroads. Perfect for railfans.

Cons

Management is very bad, the two brothers running the place are trying to suck the place dry for their personal benefits. Company has trouble paying vendors, suppliers and sometimes even employees. Google all the lawsuits against the company.
