Pros

Lots has changed since the Hong Kong office launched - we were first a Publishing office supporting the Chinese players, but recently switched strategy to become Riots first development studio outside of the US. This presents a really exciting and unique challenge, to build a studio from the ground up, that we believe will have a huge impact on Riot and players future. The Hong Kong team is made up of world class professionals, who are incredibly passionate about what they are doing - this makes for an awesome culture within the studio, offering huge opportunities to learn from one another, and is a lot of fun! One close knit team, all sharing the same mission.

Cons

The above "pros" will be hugely appealing for certain mindsets, but definitely the environment will not appeal/fit to everyone. We don't have all the answers around the future since we're still in start up mode, and expectations around impact/results are extremely high. Typically, Hong Kong Rioters do not shy away from giving tough feedback, and it's not just a case of 'doing what your manager tells you' - you'll be expected to be the SME in your given discipline, and you'll be accountable for making big calls. This type of environment can be quite intimidating and overwhelming, especially when combined with a fairly high degree of ambiguity, so do make sure you ask some really probing questions at interview to ensure this is the type of environment where you would thrive.

Pros

Great benefits, pays well, can work on some very interesting problems.

Cons

Work hours are from 10-7 and hardly anyone actually works that, so stuff can move at a snail pace. Getting help from central teams can be painful, especially if they're way off hours. Some of the culture can get a bit overwhelming too and you can end up feeling pretty lonely if you don't drink the koolaid.
