Pros
- the travel, sometimes overseas
- decent reimbursement for food, flights, etc as long as you aren't crazy about it
- lots to learn since Rocket Travel is part of Agoda (huge company)
- anybody not in management is usually pretty cool and often very knowledgeable
Cons
- worklife balance depends on your manager
- overwork culture in general
- a lot of people as managers who have no business being there
- dated tech in places, regularly heard complaints from people who worked on it (the phrase "when it's bad it's so bad" was used at least once)
- Agoda controls everything and is overseas, so US workers often accommodate with very early morning or late night meetings and by the time I left overseas people were accommodating the US less and less
- zero to plenty of control over your career, depends on your manager
- salaries and benefits are meh when you think about how stressful it is to work at Rocket Travel/Agoda
- tend to hire at one level, then give you bad evaluations when you aren't performing at another level that you would expect to get paid 10K+ more for
- had a massive layoff a couple months ago, they weren't heading anywhere good when I left and I don't think they're going to any time soon
