Approach with caution. - Engineer Rolls-Royce Employee Review

Pros

The people are mostly friendly and relaxed, and social events are available. A position here can be an entrance to the nuclear industry. Daily start and end time is flexible. The office was, until recently, known as PKMJ, but the business was purchased by Rolls-Royce. The company is expanding, so job security is good. Overall, many seem satisfied, or have their complaints but may not have past experience with which to compare.

Cons

On-boarding and training in general are sparse to nonexistent. Thus, it is hard to know what you need to learn (what questions to ask) or what is expected of you. Roles are poorly defined. Pay is hourly, in order to pay overtime. Overtime with 6-7 day weeks may be required, particularly on-site, whether you need it to complete your own work or not. Projects are often abandoned, fade away, or are shifted to other teams with no explanation, so there is little sense of accomplishment. Work is micromanaged, and engineers are asked to complete tasks rather than projects, making most of it feel like busy work.
