Pros

Flexibility of nonprofit organizations with scheduling (taking time off, adjusting work schedules). Benefits are rather average.

Cons

The ED was fired for cause (one being verbally abusive to her staff members...in a domestic violence agency) and returned with the help of the board, who were a part of the board during her time before being fired and are PERSONAL friends with her. The sheer politics of rehiring someone who was fired for reason, and having this person run the agency again when the staff clearly fear her...in a domestic violence organization...is beyond me.

Pros

Spending time w/ the survivors

Cons

This is the worst domestic violence and human trafficking org I have ever been with, and I have been with a lot. Employees not working out of compassion for the survivors, which is an essential component in a org like this. They treat it as just a job. I had also been yelled at by other employees, an environment I would not wish upon anyone. Management has unrealistic expectations when they hardly support you and make excuses as to why it is difficult to support you more. Policies are all outdated. There should be a sharepoint or something of current policies and practices, but management only relied on sending emails to spread info, so if you get hired at a later time, you will not receive the memo. There is a reason for the high turnover
