Pros

This is a great stepping stone if you want to break into Tech Banking or VC. With a very flat culture within the organization and room for increasing responsibility, you get to interact with other VCs, Entrepreneurs, and Fortune 500 executives from day one. For a recent grad or somebody with 1-2 years experience, this can be a great opportunity. If you work on the Research Side, you will probably work under the MD of Research, Rajeev Chand, who is not only very knowledgeable in his field, but has a very positive and encouraging management style.

Cons

Work on weekends occasionally.

Pros

Projects are interesting for the first year or so. You are constantly learning about one of the most interesting spaces in technology.

Cons

Upward mobility is tough because of the small company dynamics. Pay is not very competitive for the amount of time that you will put in.

Pros

Great place to learn about current technology trends and begin your career. The place is quick & fast-paced and you will be given the opportunity to work on several assignments including organizing entire dinners, compiling newsletters, daily briefings on the tech industry and other extremely interesting topics. The place is great as a first intern job straight out of college (like I was!). I was here for roughly about half a year as a Research Intern.

Cons

Very long work hours and you will work several nights and weekends (like an investment bank in NY). I would suggest against the company if you have other responsibilities in your personal space or live beyond SF. A few people have left because it was too demanding, lived outside SF and did not give them any time with their families. Although the MD is supportive, the company refuses to improve its technology (ex: including a CRM tool which has been suggested for years). The company also hires several interns, but currently only has 2 full-time Research Associates. We are all treated the same way, but it does get exhausting (particularly working ALL weekends). The Research Intern's stipend does not justify the work in any sense whatsoever.
