Pros

I have to say that there are not many positive aspects I can mention. Here comes the truth: 1. If you want to dedicate yourself to the logistics area and feel more comfortable in a Chinese-speaking environment, this is a fair place for you. 2. As many people mentioned, SF is a leading player in Asia, so you do have a chance to learn from some great people in the industry, however, most of them are located in China. AU office is quite small, literally, but we do have some excellent colleagues to work with. Unfortunately, we are losing them.

Cons

I have been recruited for an attractive title although the salary is far away from satisfying no mention the contract is pretty dodgy. It turns out that what I have been doing is quite different from the JD. The promised personal & professional developments have never been cashed. I am extremely disappointed at SF Australia. In sum, the gain is far less than my efforts. I have read through most of the reviews related to Australia. I have to admit that some of them might sound aggressive but they are TRUE. Adding my points here:  1. Ignore employees’ personal and professional development. Don’t expect to grow and flourish with SF. Don’t expect too much on acquiring new knowledge nor soft skills here.  2. Unsteady strategies and lack of business planning. The management level has a vague vision of the future business. They probably have so-called strategies but they are hardly able to land them.  3. Sometimes dreams too big and beyond the whole company’s ability. SF AU is quite small and new to this industry in this particular country. So SF needs to be down to earth and grow from the ground. Don’t even think bout competing with local giants when you don’t even have a VAN.  4. Unclear job scopes and responsibilities. Employees are so frustrated about what to do. The workload is uneven. Some people are working 12 hours a day without over-hour pay while some others don’t even show up and doing nothing.  5. Flat structure and no promotion. Pay is lower than the industry average. No over-hour payment. 6. Lack of basic industrial knowledge. How to localize when there is nobody in the team who has local industrial experience?  7. No culture. No team-building. No greeting even on holidays and birthdays.  8. No office, literally. We are sharing a warehouse with a partner company. Space is very limited. Don’t expect to have a personal workspace.  9. No practical solution. Sometimes the management level could be highly demanding and they highly expect you could provide a cure for the dilemma.
