Pros

I enjoyed the 9/80 schedule. The work wasn't over demanding if you have a good boss. All the bosses I had was nice.

Cons

It's hard to settle down and focus on work in the company when many of the young people hired in my group either we're let go during the oil down turn or they left for other companies. O think they did a very poor job in handling employee termination. HR either sent the person packing with a box on the same day for those who were let go or HR seems bitter if the person leaves for another company. For example, I still have received my vacation comp pay after more than half a year of termination. They have been ignoring my email. But since oil price seem to be picking back up, they may have more resources and money to improve the culture and better support the employees

Pros

Good people at the local level. The work is engaging and challenging.

Cons

Too many to count. Career advancements are extremely limited. Pay raises are minimal and don't get close to keeping up with inflation even for top performers. At the corporate level they are using acquisitions to hide massive layoffs. They return billions in profit to investors consistently, but there is still a constant threat of layoffs and multiyear freezes on pay raises even with inflation and solid corporate profit.
